So this year as I have said before has been one long year full of lessons learned and behavior changes for all of us. I enrolled my child into headstart in September. Now my girl homeschools her kids and her kids are sooooo smart. Anyone could pretend to homeschool but to take the time ( which it does take up a vast amount of time) to teach your kids about school and life in general takes a great deal of patience and concentration. I commend her for the wonderful job she has done with all she has done not only for her kids but for her friends kids. Now back to the issues I am having. I never really thought about homeschooling til this year when I realized how jacked up headstart is. State funding just isn't there so I am noticing all the things they are taking away from the kids. Why do they have to hide letters of the week. Or the lame h.w they send home each week! Which not to mention is against the rules. H.w isn't for preschoolers. But I do better , more educational work daily with my son without the dumb play with your kid h.w they send home.
Now another issue. The so called teachers they have is a joke. As of right now you don't need a bachelors to teach in headstart. Now as much crap the state gives parents about keeping up on paper work in order to keep my child enrolled. I thought there were teachers trained in schooling. Young children. I went to the parent meeting and found out that after the new year they are letting everyone go that doesn't have a bachelors in teaching. THANK GOD. But I feel that this should have been implemented a long time ago.
Now homeschool I have really started considering. I mean my girl said she is willing to homeschoolmy son and I am seriously weighing the pros and cons. Can't really think of a bad reason to not except I know my sons dad will prolly not want to comply. He is very closed minded. I keep seeing it on the news the charter schools being doubled for parents to have more of a choice. The need to have a good teacher as a role model in your childs life is of great importance. If it is okay for headstart teachers to teach your child with no degree...( mind you parents assume that the ppl taking care of your child has a specialized degree allowing them to teach ur child) if I had to choose right now at least I would know the person homeschooling my child. Its no different than sending him to a charter school. Except the teacher I would know personally and I wouldn't have to worry about it literally being just a place to learn to socialize
Sigh. Decisions decisions!
